WHY Outreach is pleased to offer a 75 minute ongoing complimentary yoga class for anyone coping with cancer — whether newly diagnosed, undergoing treatment, or in recovery. Mindfulness meditation, a gentle yoga flow, and restorative yoga poses are designed to build strength and flexibility, boost your immune system, and cultivate a sense of well being. Join us in a safe and nourishing environment. Caregivers welcome! The class is held twice monthly at West Hartford Yoga (23 Brook Street, West Hartford). No registration or experience required. Yoga for Recovery
Free | Fridays | 6:00-7:30pm
10.11 - Jen
11.8 - Michelle
12.13 - Heather
This all-levels class offers physical, mental, and emotional support to anyone struggling with an addictive behavior or who is in recovery. With an emphasis on a mind-body connection, the practice will blend a variety of yoga styles — power, yin, restorative, and yoga nidra — as well as various meditation & breathing techniques in order to help utilize mindfulness interventions in the recovery process or, quite simply, self-actualization. Because most addictive behaviors have also impacted body tissues, a physical practice can create access to stuck places and stagnant energy.
The practice will consist of a 45 minute yoga practice followed by discussion and group sharing facilitated by the group leader. Note that the discussion is similar to, but not affiliated with, any 12-step program. All A’s will be welcome. The class will be held once per month at West Hartford Yoga (23 Brook Street, West Hartford).
We welcome any individual struggling with an addictive behavior, or in recovery from an addictive behavior, who is seeking a holistic approach to recovery. Family members or friends of those individuals are also welcome to join the class. No registration or experience required.
